Another Meme

Sixty-Two Question Meme
I got this from Those Weird Homeschoolers.

Call me strange, but I love to read these all the way through. It's a fun way to learn about people.

2.Where were you when 9/11 happened? I was on the internet at my cleaning group in chat...we used to chat for 5 minutes, then clean for 30 minutes. When I heard I was glued to the TV all day for several days. Thomas was in kindergarten and I was severely depressed missing him so my chat buddies were helping me. My depression skyrocketed that day.

3.What do you do when vending machines steal your money? Nothing, I haven't had money stolen from a vending machine because I hardly ever use them. If it did happen I'd probably say, "Oh sh*t."

4.Do you consider yourself kind? Very.

5. If you had to get a tattoo, where and what would it be? Never, ever, I admire them on some people but I could never do that to my body. Spider veins are bad enough.

Teaching Thomas speed, focus, concentration.
I would like to know how you accomplished all of these.

Oh my...that is the continuing hurdle! I haven't accomplished that feat yet. It is our biggest struggle.

Some things we do that help, though, are having a suply of index cards and an empty index card box. I have him write down any worries, anything he's "obsessing" about at the moment, or anything that is distracting him. I have him put it in the box and leave it there. I tell him he can get it when he's done studying. That helps a little.

For speed we do something we both hate. We use a timer. Actually Thomas suggests this, even though he hates it. We don't use it all the time, but for certain things when Thomas is in the mood. Sometimes we also use a metronome to get a good pace down. This drives us both crazy and we use it for short bursts and it actually does help.

This coming year we have both decided that Thomas will have X amount of time to complete whatever he is working on. If he does not complete in the mutually-agreed upon time, it will be homework. I have a sneaky suspicion that this will really help -- at least I'm hoping.

I've googled these issues many times and I have never found many good methods or techniques to help out.
