Whew!

The rumors about the company laying off 70 people were only partially true. They laid off 20. Thankfully my husband made it through. My heart aches for the 20, though.

I was going to make sloppy Joe's for supper tonight. We decided that we needed to celebrate and go out to eat instead. How I wish we had an Olive Garden or a Cracker Barrel in town. We'll have to settle for the local Mexican restaurant. Luckily, the food is good there.

I was supposed to receive a Fed Ex shipment from Amazon today. I was all set to pour over new books tonight. It didn't come, darn it all. At least I can still look forward to its arrival -- plus the Rainbow order. I did get the new Rainbow catalog in yesterday's mail. Sadly, it was raining and a good portion of the catalog was soggy! I put it in front of a fan last night so the pages are dry and stiff. It seems to be thicker than last year's. Even with funky pages, I'll still spend countless hours enjoying the catalog wishing I were rich -- or had $8000 per student like the school district has. lol

That is very good news about the job situation. I'm happy to hear that all is well for your family. I hope that your books come soon!

Your restaurant situation must be really bleak if you're wishing for a Cracker Barrel or Olive Garden.

Well, we don't go to the Cracker Barrel for the food...I like the shopping experience there. lol I do like their chicken fried steaks, though.

Olive Garden? My all-time favorite restaurant. I could eat there every single day. I crave their salad, their breadsticks melt in my mouth, and I haven't tried any of their entrees that I didn't like.

And fyi, we have a Perkins, a brand-new Wendy's, McDonald's, KFC, a Taco Johns, a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut, and a Subway for chains. Aside from that, there are two Perkins-type restaurants and a bar that also sells greasy food that is fantastic that is located *on* one of our lakes. Also a Mexican restaurant which is actually pretty good. And that's it. Oh, Dairy Queen.

So you are correct, the restaurant situation here is extremely bleak. I grew up in Denver and we ate out a lot. It was hard moving to a small town with few choices.

Thank goodness that the layoffs didn't affect your family! I can't imagine how difficult that would be.

Hoping your package arrives soon...goodies!
